THE MONOTONY OF UNENDING PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT ACTIVISM

By JOHN LINOG KEELAT

War, peace and development… war, peace and development...

Which one? It's confusing, distressing, disturbing etc. Do we truly understand the cry of some who henceforth claim the voice of the Moro majority?

We know it’s boring but we show we are concern though artificially, and, even, are enjoying it though superficially.

These peace and development stuffs — seminars, symposiums, forums, conferences, name it you have it — are imposed upon us directly or indirectly because of the unending war against us Muslims..

Ever since I could remember we are eating these stuffs. Ever since too I could remember, there improves nothing better.

Against our will we do these stuffs with hope against hope that they would come out good for us. Yet until now, they didn’t but become worst.

And those who are not tired of doing these monotony, their only hidden reason is there is money in them, though too little a penny!

Now, text-reports this day said Bayang, Marogong, Binidayan, Lumbaca Unayan and other towns in Lanao del Sur are heavily militarized, and asked "that we (Maranaos) must do something."

My question is what in particular can we do but to fight religiously for our God-given right without selfish interest but for the common welfare and without serving colonial and imperialist interests? If we don’t do this, then we better stop fooling ourselves with these peace and development stuffs.

The fight using the money of the enemy and their designs is not a fight for our God-given right. It is a fight, instead, in the enemy’s behalf.

Let us fear the Creator who commanded us to enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong and believe in Him; and who commands us to fight until there is no more oppression on the face of earth.
